Spanning the rooftops of the Legacy Buildings at the Embassy Gardens in London, is a spectacular 25 metre sky pool described by the designer, HAL Architects, as a “world’s first”. The sky pool boasts a transparent pool floor and walls, with crystal clear waters giving swimmers an uninterrupted 360 degree view of the surrounding cityscape from 35m above ground level.
The sheer size of the pool meant that it had to be constructed in carefully joined sections of clear acrylic which measured 180mm thick at the sides, and 360mm thick at the base. When full, the sky pool weighs around 200 tonnes and is a feat of engineering that was not without its challenges according to Eckersley O’Callaghan (Structural Engineering) and Reynolds Polymers (Fabrication) who joined forces with HAL to deliver the project.
Embassy residents and their guests will have exclusive access to the pool which also boasts an orangery and sky deck creating the perfect ambiance for rest and relaxation, as well as a unique space for socialising with friends and family. Members can also exclusively book the sky deck for private events in a truly unique setting.
